There is no person credited for discovering planet Venus. In 1761 a Russian called Mikhail Lomonosov discovered the atmosphere of Venus. The USSR developed between 1961 and 1984 the program called Venera which consisted in a series of unmanned planetary probes to gather data from Venus.
